Here, we enter Sagarmatha National Park, dedicated to preserving the fragile mountain environment. Descending from the park and crossing another suspension bridge, we ascend towards the towering Hillary Bridge and eventually reach Namche Bazaar. Passing through vibrant rhododendron forests teeming with wildlife such as musk deer and colorful pheasants, we'll arrive at Sanasa. Here, we encounter a junction: one path leads to the Gokyo valley, while the other heads towards Everest Base Camp. Opting for the latter, we ascend sharply to Tengboche Monastery, the largest in the Khumbu region. From here, we're treated to breathtaking close-up views of the surrounding mountains. After visiting the monastery, we traverse through birch and rhododendron forests to Deboche, where we'll spend the night.

After a brief lunch and rest, we continue towards Everest Base Camp, passing by the once vast Gorak Shep Lake. Upon arrival, we gain a newfound appreciation for Everest climbers who navigate the perilous Khumbu Icefall. Vibrant mountaineer's tents punctuate the grey landscape, especially noticeable in spring. From the base camp, we enjoy views of Nuptse, Khumbuste, and Pumori. On the return journey, we can opt for a higher route for a panoramic view of the Khumbu Icefall and the path to the South Col. We then retire to Gorakshep for a peaceful night's rest.

We begin our day early, before dawn, to witness the breathtaking views from Kalapatthar as the first light of day illuminates Mt. Everest. However, preparing for the early morning departure is essential, as temperatures can drop to -10 to -14°C, with chilly winds often present. As we ascend, familiar peaks such as Lingtren, Khumbutse, and Changtse come into view, with Everest gradually revealing itself between the west shoulder crest and Nuptse. Along the ascent, we pause at various viewpoints to capture stunning photographs. After several hours of climbing, we reach the summit of Kalapatthar, marked by cairns and prayer flags. From here, we take in the awe-inspiring Himalayan vistas, capturing as many photos as possible to preserve the moment. Following our descent, we return to Gorekshep and embark on a helicopter flight back to Kathmandu.
