As far if you have chosen to drive from Kathmandu Kerung (Gyirong), you will be stopped in the major towns/settlements of enroute. Paying the visits of Sakya, Tashilumpo, Palcho monasteries Khumbum Stupa and many other attractions of around, which takes 5 days to reach in Lhasa the first step of journey. In Lhasa you will be stopped three days for acclimatization and sightseeing tours. You will be visiting main spiritual centers of Tibet and popular Potala Palace.
After main places visiting in Lhasa around you will be proceed for proposed trekking destination. The trekking begins 45 km drive to Ganden from Lhasa first and on the way you can see the monastery which is one of the main Gelugpa sect of Buddhism. This five days of trek crosses 2 over 5000m passes enroute and the total trekking distance is 80 Km. This trek offers a perfect combination of elevation, moisture, aspect and beautiful views of nomad land in Tibet. Last day of the trek you will be at Samye where you can see the only monastery that represents Nyingmapa sect of Buddhism red capped group one. Ganden to Samye trek itinerary
Day 01: Drive from Kathmandu to Kerung boarder (5-6 hrs) after immigration formalities in immigration and drive to the Kerung (2700m) and O/N at guest house.
Day 02: Drive from Kerung to Lhatse, and O/N at guest house.
Day 03: Drive from Lhatse to Shigatse 3900m and O/N at hotel, enjoy magnificent views along the journey.
Day 04: Morning visit Tashilhunpo Monastery. Afternoon drive to Gyantse-3950m, visit Kumbum Monastery and O/N at Hotel
Day 05: Drive from Gyantse to Lhasa-3650m pass by the modern glacier and Yamdrok Lake, reach Lhasa and overnight at Hotel
Day 06-07: Sightseeing tours in Lhasa (Potala palace, Sera Monastery, Jokhang temple and Bakhor street, Drepung Monastery)
Day 08: Drive to Ganden, visit the monastery and start trekking, overnight at tented camp
Day 09-11: Trekking days you will be crossing 2 passes over 5000m of elevation and exploring remotes of Tibet including amazing views and overnight at tented camp.
Day 12: Trek ends at Samye, visit existing Nyingmapa sect of Buddhism red capped group one and overnight camp.
Day 13: Drive to Yarlung Tsangpo River, cross the river by a ferry and drive to Tsedang and overnight at hotel
Day 14: Transfer to the Gongkar airport and fly back to Kathmandu, transfer to hotel.
