Langtang valley trekking trail is located a bit north of the Kathmandu; one of the most beautiful valleys of all times and is easily accessible by drive to Syabrubesi - trail-head of the trek. 6 days trekking into the Langtang National Park which is merged with high altitude Himalayan valley to temperate valley of lower elevation of the region to preserve wildlife and nature. The park is home to several species of endangered wild animals- the red panda, musk deer, Himalayan black bear, common leopard, snow leopard, Himalayan wild goat and particularly birds and wild flowers. Mainly in spring the open meadow lands are carpeted with varieties of alpine wild flowers and the forests are multi-colored with colorful rhododendron, orchids, magnolia and many other floral species. The major attraction of the trek is Langtang Village and Kyanjin Gompa from where you will be fascinated with panoramic Himalayan view.
Initially the Kyanjin Gompa trekking trails follow through a sub-tropical jungle, and dense forests of oak, birch and pine trees before the valley opens out to further of Langtang villages. Then the trail gradually drops into sub-alpine meadows of open barren yak pastures. The picturesque scenery of the snow clad peaks Langtang Lirung (7,246m), Dorje Lakpa (6,966m), Pemthang Ri, Langshisha Ri and other Himalayan peaks are always the main attractions. This trek is taken to visit some beautiful parts furthermore around Kyanjin Gompa so as to explore around and observe best views. If you want to experience more, you may climb to Tsergo Ri (4,984 m.) and enjoy the amazing Himalayan vistas and feel like you are at top of the world. Day 05: Trek Langtang Village (3541m) to Kyanjin Gompa (3900m, 3 hrs)/overnight at teahouse
Day 06: Exploration day – climb up Tsergo Ri (5050m )/Langsisa Yak Pasture/Yala Cheese Factory (4633m)
Day 07: Trek Kyanjin Gompa (3900m) to Lama Hotel ( 2480m, 5-6hrs)/overnight at teahouse

Day 09: Drive back Syabrubesi (1610m) to Kathmandu (7-8 hours)/ transfer to hotel

The Langtang Valley Trek typically lasts 6 to 10 days (depending on your holiday duration and interest) and is moderately challenging, making it suitable for trekkers with basic fitness levels. The best times to trek are during spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) when the weather is stable and visibility is excellent. The trek’s highest points include Tserko Ri (4,984 m) and Kyanjin Ri (4,773 m), offering breathtaking panoramic views of the Himalayas.
You’ll need the Langtang National Park Entry Permit as you will book the trek with Himalayan Mentor, we will handle this. The trek’s major highlights include scenic drives from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi, stunning views of Langtang Lirung and surrounding peaks, exploring Langtang Village, which has been rebuilt after the 2015 earthquake, visiting the 7th-century Kyanjin Gompa, and optional hikes to Tserko Ri and Kyanjin Ri. Along the way, you might spot rare wildlife like red pandas and Himalayan pheasants.
Accommodation is provided in teahouses along the trail, offering basic but comfortable lodging. Meals typically include dal bhat, momos, noodles, soups, and other simple dishes, with plenty of vegetarian options.
When packing, bring thermal layers, a down jacket, waterproof clothing, trekking boots, and a sleeping bag. Essential accessories include trekking poles, sunglasses, sunscreen, and a water purification method. A power bank is highly recommended since charging electronics at teahouses often incurs extra costs.
Altitude sickness is a low risk on this trek, but it’s important to ascend gradually, stay hydrated, and carry medication like Diamox. Emergency evacuation via helicopter is available but expensive, so ensure your travel insurance covers trekking and evacuation. A personal first aid kit with blister care, painkillers, and basic medications is also advisable.
The Langtang region is rich in Tamang and Tibetan cultural influences, and trekkers are encouraged to respect local customs. Follow “Leave No Trace” principles to preserve the natural environment.
