Lhasa and Namtso Lake Tour

Up on arrival at Gonggar Airport meet our Tibet tour official representative, complete the custom and immigration formalities and drive to Lhasa city (3650m). It takes around 45 minutes to reach the main city center. Checking in your hotel, be refresh, rest for acclimatization to get fit with Lhasa’s high altitude.

Early morning after breakfast brief on the day’s program by your guide and proceed tour to Norbulingka, Sera Monastery, Jokhang temple and the Barkhor Square. Drive to visit the Norbulingka palace which is summer retreat of the Dalai Lama. The palace building construction completed in 1956 and it is elaborately decorated with Tibetan wood carvings and paintings. Then drive to the famous Sera Monastery allows you to get an insight into the important aspects of Tibetan Buddhism. You can observe the monks are taking the part of religious chanting and discourse there. Then head to Jokhang Temple and explore rich Tibetan cultural heritage of this site as well visit city center of Barkhor market and after visiting of the day back to hotel.

After breakfast meet your guide & transfer to visit Potala Palace. This is the main attraction of Tibet forever and it is an impressive structure of Tibetan architecture. The Potala Palace has various types of Tibetan arts and crafts collection which are some many centuries of old. After visiting this outstanding Dalai Lama’s palace transfer to visit popular Drepung Monastery which is lies at the foot of the Gambo Utse Mountain and takes around 10 minutes drive from downtown Lhasa. Drepung Monastery located at the foot of Mount Gephel, is one of the "great three" Gelug university gompas (monasteries) of Tibet. Drepung Monastery used to be the largest monastery and most powerful monastey in Tibet.

Early morning drive from Lhasa to Lake Namtso, which is one of the four holy lakes of Tibet and also the highest salt lake in the world. On the way, you will be impressed with the beauty of snow-capped Nyenchen Thanglha Mountain Ranges and lots of nomads and their tent with grazing yak and sheep densely-populated on the flourishing grassland (during summer). Besides, you can enjoy the view of the Sky-Road Railway with snow mountain background; while standing at the famous Lagenla Pass(5190m), you can view the stunning vista of holy Namtso Lake. Then we can enjoy our time doing a leisurely walk around Tashi Dor Island and along the lakeshore. After the beautiful day out drive back to Damxung County for overnight stay.

After breakfast, join the tour guide to visit Chimelong Nunnery (Phyirmil Lung Nunnery). Walk around the peaceful small nunnery and get an idea of different Buddhist studies in Tibet; you may also spot a sky burial site (Tibet funeral site) in the distance. Then the journey head to the Tsurphu Monastery, the seat of the Karmapa branch of the Kagyupa order of Tibetan Buddhism. Here, you can learn more about the ‘Black Hats’, the Karma Kagyupa school of Tibetan Buddhism.
