Makalu base camp trek is one of the off the beaten path trek which lies in the eastern region of Nepal. The trek follows the remote trail that encompasses some of the best highlights that Nepal has to offer. You will find rarely other tourists along the trail as it’s trekked by the hikers who has specific interest and nature filled trail to trek on and known as a remote trekking trail in Nepal. Terraced farmland, rural villages, rhododendron forests, rare wildlife and amazing views of several 8,000 meter-plus peaks makes Makalu base camp trek one of the best trek for the trekkers who really want to enjoy the remoteness and pristine nature.  As you will be trekking in Makalu Barun National Park, the rich natural diversity, flora and fauna, rare animals like snow leopard, red panda will be the major highlight beside the Himalayan vistas.

The Makalu trek begins with the domestic flight from Kathmandu to Tumlingtar, then drive to Num village through Chichila, which is the trek starting point.  You will be hiking through hilly region or eastern Nepal with the beautiful view of terraced farmland. Crossing the Arun River, the trek followed to Khongma Danda where you will spend couple of night on the way to the base camp of Mt. Makalu. Day hike to the Khongma La allow you to acclimatize with higher elevation and also offer the outstanding mountain vistas.  Crossing the high passes like Shipton La and Keke La , the journey takes you to the Makalu base camp through Dobate, Yangle Kharka, Langmale Kharka, Sherson.  You will enjoy a day explore around the base camp to experience the Himalayas and beautiful view. Then you will trek back to Num village thourhg the same trail and fly back to Kathmandu to conclude the Makalu base camp trek. Beside the natural beauty, the trek allow you to experience the culture and tradition of local Rai and Sherpa people.
