Langtang Gosaikunda trek itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,330m), transfer to hotel
Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, a representative will warmly welcome you and transfer you to your hotel. After check-in, you can take some time to relax and recover from your journey. Depending on your arrival time, you may wish to explore the lively streets of Thamel for the last minute trekking gear. A short briefing about the trek will be provided in the evening.

Day 02: Drive Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (1,610m, 8–9 hrs) (BLD)
Today, we set off on a scenic drive to Syabrubesi, the starting point of the Langtang trek. The journey offers beautiful views of terraced fields, traditional villages, and distant Himalayan peaks. The road is winding and bumpy in sections, but the changing landscapes make the drive enjoyable. We arrive in Syabrubesi by late afternoon and settle into a local teahouse for the night.

Day 03: Trek Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel (2,480m, 5–6 hrs) (BLD)
Our trek begins with a crossing over the Bhote Koshi River followed by a gradual ascent through dense forests of oak, rhododendron, and bamboo. Keep an eye out for local wildlife such as langur monkeys and a variety of birds. We pass several small settlements and cross suspension bridges before reaching Lama Hotel. The peaceful forest surroundings make this a pleasant day of trekking.

Day 04: Trek Lama Hotel to Langtang Village (3,541m, 5–6 hrs) (BLD)
Today's trail follows the Langtang Khola, steadily climbing through beautiful alpine forests and past waterfalls. As we gain altitude, the trees thin out and the stunning snow-capped peaks begin to dominate the landscape. We pass through the village of Ghoda Tabela and continue onward to Langtang Village, a traditional settlement with rich Tamang culture. The area was significantly affected by the 2015 earthquake, but rebuilding efforts have brought life back to the village.

Day 05: Trek Langtang Village to Kyanjin Gompa (3,900m, 3 hrs) (BLD)
A shorter trekking day allows for gradual acclimatization as we make our way to Kyanjin Gompa. The trail passes through yak pastures and mani walls, offering incredible views of Langtang Lirung and other peaks. Upon arrival, you’ll have time to explore the famous Kyanjin Monastery and sample yak cheese at the local cheese factory. The serene alpine setting is perfect for rest and reflection.

Day 06: Exploration day – climb Tsergo Ri (5,050m) (BLD)
Today is a challenging but rewarding day as we hike up to Tsergo Ri, a stunning viewpoint above Kyanjin Gompa. The steep climb takes several hours, but the panoramic views of the Langtang Himalayan range, including Langtang Lirung, Dorje Lakpa, and Shishapangma, are absolutely breathtaking. For those who prefer a less demanding option, there are shorter hikes around the valley. After soaking in the scenery, we return to Kyanjin for a well-deserved rest.

Day 07: Trek Kyanjin Gompa to Lama Hotel (2,480m, 5–6 hrs) (BLD)
We retrace our steps down the valley, descending through the picturesque landscape we climbed earlier. The downhill trek is easier on the lungs, allowing for a relaxed pace and opportunities to appreciate the natural beauty once again. We pass through Langtang Village and continue back to Lama Hotel. The familiar trail offers a comforting return to lower elevations.

Day 08: Trek Lama Hotel to Thulo Syabru (2,200m, 5–6 hrs) (BLD)
The trail today branches off towards Thulo Syabru, a charming hilltop village known for its traditional Tamang culture and warm hospitality. We pass through bamboo and oak forests and enjoy intermittent mountain views along the way. The final stretch is a bit of a climb, but the welcoming village atmosphere makes it worthwhile. Overnight at a teahouse with great views over the valley.

Day 09: Trek Thulo Syabru to Sing Gompa (3,250m, 5–6 hrs) (BLD)
We ascend through forests rich with rhododendron, hemlock, and pine, often accompanied by the chirping of birds. The trail climbs steadily but rewards us with increasingly magnificent views of Ganesh Himal and the Langtang range. Sing Gompa is home to a small monastery and another yak cheese factory. The peaceful setting is perfect for a relaxing evening.

Day 10: Trek Sing Gompa to Gosainkunda (4,380m, 5–6 hrs) (BLD)
Today’s trail takes us steadily uphill through beautiful alpine forests and high pastures. As we ascend, the landscape becomes more rugged and the air thinner, with sweeping views of the Ganesh Himal, Langtang Lirung, and distant peaks of the Tibetan plateau. The final section is a breathtaking stretch as we approach the sacred lake of Gosainkunda, a holy site surrounded by dramatic rocky terrain. Pilgrims visit this lake especially during the Janai Purnima festival. We stay overnight near the lake and prepare for the higher pass ahead.

Day 11: Exploration day – visit Holy Gosainkunda Lake (BLD)
We spend the day exploring the cluster of glacial lakes around Gosainkunda. You may wish to visit some of the smaller nearby lakes such as Saraswati Kunda and Bhairab Kunda. Pilgrims believe bathing in these waters cleanses one’s sins and brings spiritual merit. The day also provides essential rest and acclimatization before the long descent.

Day 12: Trek Gosainkunda via Laurebina Pass (4,610m) to Dhunche (7–8 hrs) (BLD)
This is one of the most challenging and rewarding days of the trek. The trail begins with a steep ascent to Lauribina La Pass, the highest point of the journey, offering panoramic views over the Langtang and Helambu regions. After enjoying the spectacular scenery at the top, we descend sharply through rocky slopes and forests toward Dhunche. The trail can be rough in places, especially if there’s snow, but the accomplishment of crossing the pass is deeply satisfying. We arrive in Dhunche by evening and rest in a comfortable teahouse.

Day 13: Drive Dhunche to Kathmandu (7–8 hrs) (B)
We say goodbye to the mountains and begin our journey back to Kathmandu by road. The drive retraces our earlier route, offering final glimpses of the hills and countryside. Once in Kathmandu, you’ll be transferred to your hotel for a well-deserved shower and rest. The evening is free to enjoy a farewell dinner or do some last-minute shopping.

Day 14: Final Departure (B)
After breakfast, our team will transfer you to the airport for your onward journey. We hope you’ve had a memorable adventure in the Langtang region.

Note: B = Breakfast, BLD = Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
