  • Daytime temperatures are generally comfortable for trekking, but layering is essential for temperature fluctuations.

Altitude Sickness & Acclimatization

Annapurna Base Camp (4,130m) is a high-altitude trek, and altitude sickness (Acute Mountain Sickness - AMS) can be a concern. While the risk is lower compared to Everest Base Camp, trekkers should be cautious.

Symptoms of Altitude Sickness

  • Mild AMS: Headache, dizziness, nausea, loss of appetite, difficulty sleeping.
  • Severe AMS: Shortness of breath, confusion, inability to walk, fluid in the lungs (HAPE), or brain swelling (HACE).

Prevention & Acclimatization Tips

Ascend gradually – Avoid rushing the trek.
Stay hydrated – Drink at least 3-4 liters of water daily.
Avoid alcohol and smoking – They increase dehydration and AMS risk.
Eat high-energy foods – Carbohydrates help with altitude adaptation.
Listen to your body – If symptoms worsen, descend immediately.
Consider Diamox (Acetazolamide) – Helps with altitude adaptation but consult a doctor before use.
